Our Story
Hi, we’re Vlad and Ana - founders of Magic of Wood.
We’re the family behind the brand, the ideas, and a story that started with one very special bed made for our own children. And like many family stories, ours began quite simply - at home.
It started with our own children.
When we first arrived in beautiful New Zealand, we came in search of a better life and a place to call home — somewhere we could build a new future for our family. At the time, our little ones didn’t always want to sleep in their own beds. We wanted to create something that would make their room feel special — a cosy, playful space they could truly call their own and actually look forward to sleeping in. So Vlad built something special for them — his first Tree House bunk bed. We didn’t know it then, but that first bed became the beginning of Magic of Wood.

Our next chapter began with family-based childcare. We created a warm, cosy and playful environment where children could feel at home, and it was here that some of our first pieces of children’s furniture were created — not only for our own kids, but for the other little ones we cared for too. Watching children actually use the furniture every day taught us a lot. We saw what made a space feel inviting, what worked for little hands and growing bodies, and how thoughtful furniture could make everyday family life easier. And the ideas kept coming.
Built on experience
Vlad’s connection with woodworking started long before Magic of Wood. As a teenager, he spent time building houses alongside his dad, gaining his first hands-on experience working with timber. He later completed a Bachelor’s degree in Wood Production Technology, building a strong technical foundation in timber and furniture manufacturing. Years later in New Zealand, that knowledge and experience found a new purpose. Vlad began designing and making indoor and outdoor furniture for our own children and the little Kiwis we cared for — experimenting with ideas, refining each design, and creating pieces for real, everyday family life.
What started with one Tree House bunk bed gradually grew into something much bigger.

Today, every Magic of Wood piece is made in our Auckland factory by our experienced team. We work with natural NZ Radiata pine and birch plywood, combining thoughtful design, modern technology and hands-on craftsmanship. From the first cut to the final sanding and quality check, every detail matters.
Our Mission.
Our mission goes beyond making beds. We create beautiful, long-lasting spaces where children can sleep, play, dream, and grow — while helping families make the most of their homes. Because the idea behind Magic of Wood is still the same one that started in our own family: Create a space children love to call their own. From our family, to yours.
