Designed for Childhood

Children have an amazing ability to see more than what’s actually there.

Give them a blanket and a table, and they have a house. A cardboard box becomes a car. A little window becomes a shop, a café or the entrance to a secret world.

We’ve seen this so many times over the years — raising our own children and through years of experience working with young children in early childhood education.

Children see spaces differently from adults.

And that has shaped the way we design at Magic of Wood.

A little imagination built in

When we create a new children’s bed, we don’t only think about where the mattress goes or how it will fit into the room.

We think about what a child might see.

Could that little window become part of a game? Could the roof shape make their bed feel like their own little house? Could the space underneath a loft become a fort today and a reading corner tomorrow?

That’s where many of our more playful designs come from.

Our house beds, bunk beds and loft beds aren’t created to tell children how to play. They simply give them a starting point — and children usually take it much further than we could.

The coolest bed in the world

As adults, we might be looking for a beautiful timber bed that works with the room.

But a child?

They might just want the coolest bed in the world.

And we think there’s room for both.

Natural timber, simple Scandinavian-inspired design and practical details for parents — with just enough magic for the little person who will actually sleep there.

A Castle Bed. A little house. A loft with a secret space underneath. A bunk shared with a brother, sister or best friend.

Because a children’s bed can be practical and beautiful.

But in their imagination, it can be so much more.

That’s what Designed for Childhood means to us.
